As per the recent reports from Juniper Research, it is expected that this number will rise in the next four years and the mobile apps download may become double and reach 66 billion, by the year 2016.
This dramatic rise in the consumer app downloads as projected by Juniper Research is quite achievable if you take into account the rapid increase in the use of smartphones and mobile apps. As per the report, nearly 87% of the downloaded apps will be free; however the publishers will make revenues with the virtual item sales and content subscriptions.
Although the tablets are expected to give a tough competition to sales of smartphones in the coming years, the study reveals that by 2016, only one of the four mobile apps download will take place on a tablet device.
As the consumers rely more and more on smartphones for their daily activities, ranging from financial, retail, and entertainment, the companies turn to mobile apps in their bid to stay competitive and always accessible to their customers from anywhere.
