Diablo 3 Classes and Diablo 3 Characters

Exploring the Diablo 3 classes to find the right one for you. There is a reason that people are excited about the upcoming dark fantasy/horror-themed action role-playing game Diablo 3.
The original games, Diablo and Diablo 2 are considered amazing games.

Not only are these two titles commercially successful, they were also critically acclaimed.

But one of the most important elements in any role-playing game is being able to find a character that suits you.

To give you a better understanding of what is available and help you make the right choice for your style of play, these are the available Diablo 3 classes.

What character should I play if I love melee?

The best out of all the Diablo 3 characters when it comes to hand-to-hand combat is the Barbarian. These are not unlike the same class in Diablo 2.

They have some amazing physical abilities to go with their superhuman strength.

The Barbarian can move through hordes of enemies like a tornado and crush them with one single power thrust.

The alternative to the Barbarian is the Monk.

The Monk uses advanced martial arts to attack its enemies. While the Monk does not have the raw strength that the Barbarian has, it moves at a much greater speed.

This allows the Monk to deflect projectiles, resist damage from enemies, and cripple the opponent.

Most consider the Monk a combination of the Paladin and Assassin character from previous games.

These Diablo 3 classes are perfect if you prefer to be in the thick of the battle, swinging away with a sword or axe.

Unlike the ranged characters, they are often much stronger and can absorb much more damage.

What they gain in strength they may give up in magic or ranged combat.

What should I play if I prefer to shoot or perform magic?

There are those Diablo 3 characters that are just meant to be up close and personal, but rely on ranged attacks instead. The Wizard can not only shoot lightning, ice and fire at the enemies, but can also teleport around the adversaries.

In addition to that, they have the ability to slow down time.

The Demon Hunter combines those elements that the Diablo 2 players liked from the Assassin and Amazon.

The main weapon for this character is the crossbow but also have the ability to throw bombs at their enemies.

A new addition to the Diablo 3 characters is the Witch Doctor

While some might consider it similar to the Necromancer from Diablo 2, it has skills that are more closely associated with the Voodoo background of the character.
The Witch Doctor has the power to curse enemies, harvest their soul, use poison, and summon monsters to do their bidding.

While these characters are powerful from a distance, they do not have the physical stature to absorb damage from up-close.

This means that it becomes important to always keep your distance from the enemy that is trying to kill your character.

Will there be additional characters later?

Even though there are already more characters than ever before to choose from, Blizzard has suggested that there may be additional Diablo 3 classes available with an expansion pack at a later date.

This is good news for those players who feel that their favorite characters from Diablo or Diablo 2 are not accurately represented in Diablo 3.

With so many characters to choose from, and so many years of development put into the game itself, it should come as no surprise that people are already salivating when they think about playing Diablo 3.

If the previous two games set a precedent for the future, it is going to be an amazing game.
