The Sims 3 - App Review
If you know anything at all about video or computer games, you’re surely
familiar with The Sims franchise. What started out years ago with Sim
City has evolved into a massive Sim franchise, with dozens of offshoot
titles. The Sims is unquestionably the most popular of these, and has since become the best selling PC game franchise in the world, with popular ports appearing on modern consoles as well.
Why should I play this version?
The big question when the iPhone version of The Sims 3 was announced was how would it play? Would it be a stripped down version of the real thing or would it deliver a fully fledged experience on the iPhone? Read on to find out.
You begin by creating your sim, and you have a huge variety of customization options at your disposal to give your sim the exact look and personality you desire. You can further augment your sim’s looks with unique outfits that can be purchased for an additional cost, if you’re a real fashionista.
Just what do I do with this Sim now?
Once your sim is created, you’re presented with a checklist of goals which your sim would like to accomplish throughout their lifetime, and are set loose on the world. The goals are a great way to give players direction, which was one of the main complaints about earlier versions of the game.
You can choose to complete or ignore the smaller ones, though completing the large goals is integral to beating the game.
The main goal of The Sims aside from fulfilling their wishes on the checklist is to look after their needs. If they’re smelly, send them into the shower.
They’re not likely to make or keep their friends if theirfunky odor is making them gag. If they have a full bladder, direct them to the bathroom, before they let loose on the linoleum. When they’re hungry, feed them. It may sound like drudgery to those who have never experienced it before, but the gameplay is oddly compelling and satisfying.
In addition to looking after your sims needs and getting your sim a J-O-B, some friends, and a killer bachelor pad, you’ll also be able to play minigames, such as fishing, which help break up some of the monotony of guiding your sim through his or her daily life.
That is one good looking Sim!
The first thing that will jump out at you about The Sims3 is the graphics. They’re fully 3-D, very sharp, and very impressive for the platform. You really feel like you’re playing a console version of the game based on how good it looks. Only an occasional graphical glitch such as tearing mars the otherwise flawless visual beauty.
The Sims 3 is without a doubt one of the most ambitious games that’s appeared on the iPhone platform to date, with deep gameplay and outstanding graphics. It shouldn’t be missed, especially if you don’t have any of the other versions.
Platform – iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad (iOS 3.0 or later).
Genre – Simulation
Price - $6.99
RATING – 4.9/5
