Man catches cheating wife

Man catches cheating wife using get this..........an IPhone4 and the recently adapted app - Find My Friends
Just goes to show you how fast technology has changed, people used to hire private investigators to find this stuff out, the common man (or woman) isn’t even aware of what technology is out there, whether or not this will hold up in the courtroom remains to be seen, but by using the Find my friends app which was initially only compatible with the Android but has recently been adapt to the Iphone4, a suspicious (apparently with good reason) husband stated that he caught his wife cheating.

What FMF does is pretty much exactly what it says it does...... it allows users to find their friend using a GPS signal that’s generated by their mobile phones.

Now what this brilliant (or insecure, I’m leaning towards the ladder, you have to be pretty certain your wife is cheating on you in order to go to these lengths), guy did was give his wife an iphone 4 as a present, now not being tech saavy, or aware that such technology existed, she did what most people would do when given a gift, she accepted it giddily and used it unaware that the entire time she had her Iphone4 on her she was being tracked by her husband.

When she disclosed her location to her husband via text, it explained how she was in the mat packing district or New York, but FMF showed her location in a completely different direction in the Upper East Side.

This either confirms one of two things, she’s a compulsive liar or as her husband maintained, she was cheating on him.  Now we can’t confirm this story to be %100 fact because it was posted to the MacRumors forum, but it certainly is a plausible scenario and may very well be true.

What can’t be negated is the revelation, technology has changed, you can be miles away from someone and they can still now where you are, privacy is dead.

There are stories outlining how people have tracked victims down using the Geotag in a picture or text or how houses have been robbed when someone has posted that they’ve gone out for the day unbeknownst that their address was is in their public profile.

The line between Social Networking and reality is no longer divisive, reality and Social Networking are intertwined, privacy with social networking has already become a huge issue.

You’re probably aware of stories of employers looking at applicants Facebook accounts and turning down applicants upon seeing pictures of potential employees drinking or having a good time with friends, or even firing current employees for similar reasons.

Social Networking is taking over our lives and we’re at the point of no return.  The point is to be aware of the ever changing technology and don’t let it dictate your life or worse yet destroy it.  FMF is just one more social Networking application that has contributed to privacy being a thing of the past, the line between reality and social networking is no longer visible.
FMF has some settings inside of it like Latitude that allows you to give only a city-level location to a friend. Meaning if you are in Boston, they will see that you are in the general vicinity of the city, not your exact location, of course the woman didn’t even know about the application.

There is also a cool addition that is specific to the IPhone that allows users to share their location for a one-time event, meaning that you can give someone your location for a set amount of time, which is pretty handy.  It will be interesting to see if the husband in this story will post any outcomes or results. Until then, make sure you know what’s installed on your phone.
