Shrunken Heads Revisited

Shrunken Heads
Ian Hunter
May 2007
The single most important release in 2007 for me was Shrunken Heads by Ian Hunter. You can read my original post on the subject here, or better yet, just go buy it.
This man has paid his dues. He’s seen good times and bad times. Listening to this record makes it hard to believe that he was born in 1939. I can’t think of a single artist up to this point who’s made a more relevant and at the same time, musically satisfying rock record so late in their career. If you haven’t done the math, the guy was 67 when he turned this mother out. 67? Most 67 year-olds I know don’t want to hear a record that rocks this hard, let alone make one. I’ll go so far as to say that Shrunken Heads is as good as anything Ian Hunter’s ever done, including his seminal records with Mott The Hoople. One word of caution: If you like Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and Mitt Romney, er, skip this one and go buy a Ted Nugent record…
