I'd have some Bill Hicks in there, along with the Tom Lehrer box set and the Woody Allen compilation. Maybe Sam Kinison's first LP (though his career went downhill VERY rapidly), and I'd include one of the Credibility Gap (Harry Shearer, Michael McKean and David Lander) albums from the '70s. And National Lampoon's Lemmings.

The above mentioned Woody Allen collection would be at the top of my list. Bill Cosby's " ... is a Very Funny Fellow .... Right!" (featuring the "Noah" sketch among others), Dennis Miller's "Off-White Album", and several of Carlin's early records, probably "AM and FM" or "Occupation Fool" at the top of the list. The Newhart and Steve Martin albums are great as is Don Rickles' "Hello Dummy". Steven Wright's "I Have a Pony" would also make my list. There would have to be a Pryor and Lenny Bruce pick on their but I am not sure which I would pick. Well, that looks like about 10 and should do for starters.

This is always a dicey move, summarizing comedy albums, music albums, top lists in entertainment, in general. I pay particular attention to this list because I'm a comedienne/blogger. I'm not sure if I'm being overly-critical/analytical when it comes to comedy lists or just too much of a chicken to commit to one. Kudos to you my friend for taking the step I dare not take.

When I was thirteen, my dad turned me on to Robert Klein's "Child of the Fifties" and I've been sharing it with friends for years since. I was delighted to find a CD copy of it a few years ago since my vinyl copy skipped badly.

Steve Martin's "Let's get Small" would be my nomination for my generation.
