I’ve seen copies of Wallander books in Op shops (thrift shops) but after seeing Sidetracked on TV tonight, I’ll make sure to grab one next time.
It’s interesting the reference to Inspector Beck in post #3, because that would be an obvious precursor.
The other parallel is the Danish cop series, Unit One.

Several Wallnder TV adaptations have been shown on MHZ Channel 56 in the Washington DC area. They feature Rolf Lasgard as Wallender. He also portrayed Gunvald Larsson in the “Beck” series of SjÃƒÂ¶wall and Wahloo.

Mankell is great to read in summer. You can’t feel hot when you’re lost in Wallander’s world.
